Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Is a good start if wondering how to pray

Ever wonder how you should pray? I know that for many of you, this is a silly question. For decades it was not silly to me. I had no instructions that I felt comfortable with on how to pray.

It doesn’t matter what faith you have or even if you have any faith to begin with. Praying, one way or another, is done worldwide across all lines. From true believers to non-believers in a God.

Even a non-believer may be caught up in something so overwhelming that he or she just wants a bit of comfort and relief. Something like a terminal illness to a serious injury, a breakup in a relationship, or the passing of a loved one.

Mooji said “Your mantra is thank you. Just keep saying thank you. Don’t explain. Don’t complain. Just say thank you. Say thank you to existence.”

Now, let’s think about if you were ever told to count your blessings. When you did, you were either so low that you couldn’t think of any or were so grateful because your blessings flooded you with warmth and were too many to count.

If on the low end, I remember my favorite plea/prayer which is simply “God, help me” and then get out of His way and let Him.

If on the high end, though, and it is difficult to separate them, I just follow Mooji and say “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” That is how I begin many days and repeat throughout the day.

Living life does not need to be like brain surgery or solving a Rubik’s Cube. The more simple that you make it, the more comfortable you can be.

“Ya, but I gotta pray right!” Right is getting the thought across in the least complicated way that you can. You do not need to go to church, temple, the woods, or any place special first.

It could be as simple as just saying “Hey, God. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” and moving right along with your day.

Then there is one of my favorites from Emmet Fox. “Every thought is a prayer!” WOW!!! This could not be any easier. The difficulty is the responsibility of knowing that this means that I have to clean up my thinking and keep it there.

Thank you, God!
