I recently wrote about my least-favorite Gen-Z fashion trend — the tapered pants. My wife bought me a pair of incredibly soft, comfortable North Face pants for Christmas — I live for comfort by the way — but I was alarmed to find the restrictive elastic at the bottom.

I have simply had a devil of a time getting used to the elastic ring at my ankle. I am not used to my ankle being exposed while wearing a pair of pants.

But for the lucky 50 people who read that article, they will note that I bucked and went ahead and wore them. And I am so happy that I did. They have only added to my life.

However, I am supremely happy about something else they have brought back.

These fashionable items have brought back memories from growing up watching Michael Jordan: The Air Force Ones.

These things are simply beautiful — every single color scheme I have seen I could look fashionable in. The way the sections of the shoe have their symmetrical colors is just delicious. It fits my eye. My wife actually designed a pair for me. Beauties.

They say that Gen-Z is much more down-to-earth and practical than millennials. As a Gen-X’er, I want to thank you so much. I look forward to mentoring you in the future in regards to my 30 year old wardrobe: polo shirts and jeans. Always in style.

But please bring back the free-flowing, non-ankle exposing, halfway down the shoe, non-tapered pants. I am still in love with them.

But for now, thank you. Just keep providing me with cool fashion.
