“Thank you so much! You just made my day”.

That was the reply I received to a comment I left on a lovely poem I read recently. When I read the poem, I had two choices, (1) to engage, (2), to be a silent admirer and simply move on and say nothing about what I had read. But like we’re always encouraged to do, I left a comment, and lo and behold, I made someone’s day!

When I left the comment, I didn’t think anything of it; I just wanted to leave a nice comment, but little did I know that a comment that took me a few seconds to write would go a long way!

Lesson

As writers, if we don’t support each other, then can we expect others to support us? Yes, I know it’s a competitive world on here, but that shouldn’t stop us from being nice. Being nice doesn’t cost a thing! It doesn’t take a lot for us to show support.

Why not try this:

When next you read an article or poem by a fellow writer, highlight a sentence you like, tell them how it made you feel. Let’s give to others what we expect from them. And you never know, you might receive a message saying, “Thank you so much! You just made my day.”

P.S This is piece No 14 — Day 10 of a 30-day challenge. I’m playing this game with Ali and Hamsalekha, why not stick around till the end of the challenge :).
