Dear Scientists, Doctors and Community Members,

Thank you for creating the COVID-19 vaccine and working so hard to keep our communities safe. On Tuesday of this week, I received my second dose of the Moderna vaccine.

Throughout the process, all of you have worked tirelessly to set up events in our community to make sure everyone gets vaccinated.

My first dose was given at a drive-through event at the Nike World Campus near our home. I am grateful to everyone who coordinated this. A community of firefighters came together to help everyone in our area at this event.

There was a feeling of oneness, trust, and joy in the building.

After that first dose, the following day, I felt fatigued. However, I was so grateful to have started this process towards expanding my life experience.

Fast forward to this week, where I completed the process at a different site, organized by the same group of friendly, helpful volunteers.

Everyone’s eyes smiled with kindness and care.

It was over in a flash because it was fun to chat for a brief moment while preparing for the vaccine. You all made me feel comfortable in this setting without fear.

Yesterday, I felt a great fatigue wash over me. I decided to rest because I felt chills and later a slight fever. My head ached, and my muscles were sore. However, I was grateful for all of these signs, showing me my body was working to build up immunity.

My son brought me tea, a blanket, kept me company, and helped me through the day with his smile.

Today I feel my energy slowly returning, ready to discover a new world.

Thank you with all of my heart for helping us to return to life one day soon. My prayer is that everyone around the world will have an opportunity to get the vaccine.

With appreciation and love, Trista
