It’s been a wild ride, and now I am at a crossroads

I was a sporadic writer and reader on Medium from February 2020 until February 2021. From February 2021 until July 2021, I didn’t write a single word.

This could have been the end of my Medium journey, but I decided I didn’t want to be one of those who give up without having really tried.

So in August 2021, I started to take my writing on Medium seriously and set lofty goals for my September writing challenge. While I did fail most of my goals, I could celebrate a significant increase in followers, reads, and earnings.

Spurred on by these successes, I continued writing, albeit sporadically through some months. Yet, somehow more and more of you, dear readers and fellow writers, started to follow me.

I am amazed and filled with gratitude that my follower count grew from 1,351 in August 2021 to 5,038 today.

I want to express my gratitude for your support.

You are the reason I keep on writing and am trying to become better at this craft.

I love the energy on Medium. I love how the many fantastic writers support each other. And I am grateful for the many readers who interact with my articles and share their thoughts and opinions.

I am thankful that I can experiment with different topics and styles of writing. However, I am still debating whether I should “niche down” or continue publishing on various topics. I would be grateful for recommendations.

Topics I Write About

As a competitive ultrarunner, running coach, and nutritionist, I write about ultrarunning and general fitness and health topics.

Sometimes it’s more science-based. As a former scientist, I simply love to geek out on research papers. Sometimes it’s more personal, like my love letter to running or my confession that I don’t use Strava.

As a person dealing with mental health challenges, I write about my experiences with severe social anxiety, my healing journey, and the role running and personal development played.

I am a self-improvement geek and write about fulfilling your dreams and living your life on purpose.

I dabbled with writing about relationships.

And finally, a poet at heart, I publish poems on Medium and discovered my love for Haiku writing.

Moving Forward

Now I would like to know which topics you are interested in most and what you expect of me.

Which articles do you like best? Should I “niche down” or continue writing about everything I am interested in?

Please let me know in the comments.

I am not one to make big promises.

However, one promise I will make. I will continue learning how to write better and better serve my audience.

I respect your time and am blown away that you invest it in reading my articles and poems. Every comment makes me smile, no matter if you agree or disagree with my viewpoints.

I am excited to see where this Medium journey will take me. And I say thank you for coming along for the ride 🙂.
