A Letter to My First Followers

When I joined Medium last month, I didn’t have any expectations about gaining a following, or that anyone would read anything that I’ve written or made a comment on. I joined Medium as a way to challenge myself, which is another conversation for another time.

As of October 12, 2020, I have a total of 22 followers. When the thank you letter was processed and produced, I had 8 followers, and I was appreciative and grateful; since then, I grew, and I need to show gratitude. To say I was shocked to see twenty-two strangers following me as a ‘b-list writer’(I call myself a baby writer) was and still is an understatement.

Similar to social media, I didn’t think anyone would follow a person who barely posts on platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, or even Facebook, which is another conversation for another time. Anyway, I wanted to write a form of gratitude to the followers I do have.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART

Dear Strangers Who I Appreciate, I don’t understand why you chose to follow me on this platform. As stated previously, I decided to join the Medium Partner Program and pay the monthly subscription of $5 per month to challenge myself. It was within my budget anyway.

I will admit that social media had a hand in this decision. I watched YouTubers Shelby Church, who is known for her technological and lifestyle experiments, and she tried Medium as an experiment, and here are the results; and Zulie Rane is a well-known writer for Medium and provides tips on YouTube for writers who are beginners on Medium.

I loved seeing people around my age using this generation's tools, such as social media platforms, to create content that they enjoy, and the audience will enjoy it as well. Anyway, as I sit here in shock and thanking God for the following I have gained, I thought it would be a great idea to produce a thank you letter.

Thank you to all my 22 followers and counting(fingers crossed) to gain attention and learn from. I have read some, if not all, of the stories each of you have created. I will do a separate letter of gratitude to them, the articles I have read, and learned from.

I didn’t know what to expect when I decided to be a writer on Medium, but I am glad that I have the opportunities to challenge myself in this world of content creation, a hobby I have never considered for myself.

Thank you for the privilege, honor, and the chance to read different stories and articles. Thank you for giving me another platform for learning. Thank you for choosing me for whatever reason. Thank you for inspiring me to continue and understand myself a little better as a B-List Writer and as a millennial.

Continue writing and learning, and I will continue to do so myself. See you around, and Thank you for giving me a chance.

Next Time, Haley C. Cason

P.S: I am one of the new writers for the ILLUMINATION publication. I can’t believe I was accepted, thank you.
