Tessa and the Dracolich

A TKL Mash-Up Response and Seedling Challenge (1)

Tessa | Image created by Author using NightCafé AI

This story is a response to the Monday Mash-Up #23 as well as #1 in my Seedling Challenge. I have opted to begin with a drabble (100 words).

Tessa was a tired old cat. Well, she was an unlucky shifter who got turned into a cat by accident!

But as the orange sunset touched the ocean in the distance, Tessa sighed.

Since she was abandoned here on this island with nothing, she’d been too scared to enter the water.

Would a ship ever come to rescue her?

She passed the time chasing seagulls with a childlike innocence, and befriended a crab, even found a nice rock to rub like a makeshift comb.

But she needed to go home, though she could not recall why…

She spotted sails approaching…

My score:19/24
Phobia of the ocean/lost memories (one will be edited out later?) 2 pts
Orange sunset: +1 point
Tired cat: +1 point
Unlikely sidekick is a crab?: +1 point
Rock is a makeshift cat-comb: +1 point
Chasing seagulls with childlike innocence: +2 points
Entering the Seenling Challenge +10 points
Tally box: +1 point

Thanks to the brilliant team at The Kraken Lore for always challenging me to write! Thanks to Bradan Writes Stories for taking over the Monday Mash-Ups while I’m away. And good luck to all who enter the Seedling Challenge! I’m excited to see how things develop! I’m gonna (in)discriminately challenge Ginger Bangs and Diana Thorland to join in one, the other, or both challenge(s)!!!
