Terra Oblivionis
A poem for Earth day, about her forgotten beauty
Do not forget the Earth, her solemn gentle winds and arctic bioluminescent skies Do not forget her eyes, those celestial crystal seas and volcanic mantle cries Do not forget her mouth, drifting cirrocumulus clouds and vivid coral crustacean reefs Do not forget her children, nectar feeders, and transient meiotic beings Do not forget her mercy, pumpkins in early spring thunderstorms to ease summer’s sting Do not forget her bed, leaf covered mycelium canopies and desert albatross wings Do not forget her skin, bark croaking twisted forests and Pennisula seaweed swims Do not forget her lips, blooming aquatic algae and symbiotic tulips leaves Do not forget her hair, prairies endless dance and alpine perennial grasses Do not forget, all is lost when she is sick; clinging driftwood plastic that sinks beneath, the sewage of methane ignorance it runs far too deep for her to breathe.
Do not forget, her quiet love.
