The overwhelming manipulation from political ads can leave you feeling drained, abused, and confused. Understanding their tactics will help you make better decisions when it's time to cast your vote.
Republicans work for corporations. They can not get elected that way, they need votes (for now), so they must manipulate to gain support.
By exposing their games, we stop them from dealing off the bottom of the deck and stealing what the American people voted for.
1. Know thy Enemy
The chance you will be attacked and killed by a shark is 1 in 3.7 million. Over 500 people are killed by hippos every year! While both are headline makers, the mosquito is the most deadly animal on earth, killing over one million people annually.
However, when it comes to the world's most deadly creatures, forget about sharks, hippos, and mosquitoes —the real danger is politicians who believe their lies.

2. Culture Wars Are Not Ballot Issues
Here are some things to ask yourself when you see a political ad.
- Who is this person? VoteSmart.org is an excellent site for checking out candidates.
- Do they represent you and what's important to you, or do they give it lip service?
- Are they from your district? Where do they live? When did they move there?
- Being from your district helps to ensure they know what matters most to your community.
- Are they trustworthy? Or is it just good marketing?
3. What They Say vs What They Do
Politicians' Newspeak and the undue influence of corporate sponsors blur the distinction between their words and actions, leaving voters unable to hold them accountable for their vague and unenforceable promises.
We have a better chance of reversing Niagra Falls than making politicians tell the truth after they get in office.
Education before you vote is your best defense.
Republican candidates nationwide employ the same techniques as Fred Von Canon's greasy commercials. You may be seeing the same trends where you live.
The more purple your state is — the more money and manipulation are poured into the ads.

In this commercial, Fred Von Canon claims he is;
- Outsider
- Successful Businessman
- Stand up to the establishment
- "I won't take a paycheck. So you can be sure I won't bow to lobbyists, liberals, or even other Republicans."
He finishes, "I'm Fred Von Canon, and I won't take a paycheck to serve the American people."
This sounds exactly like the Trump playbook but without the orange hair.
By "refusing" a paycheck, elected officials are accountable to the source of their income, ultimately determining who controls them. Without transparency on their financial supporters, their loyalty may be compromised.
Fred Von Canon believes in DONOR PRIVACY.
In addition to his wife and daughters, about 50% of Fred's supporters are women — shouldn't those women, as well as his wife and daughters, receive EQUAL rights to privacy as his corporate donors?
4. "Corporate God" is NOT the same as God, the Creator of the universe.

When politicians lie unchallenged before office —they might as well take their oath of office on a phone book for all the good it does.
In another Fred Von Canon commercial entitled "Tough," he promotes his veteran, businessman, and "Christian" values.
Fred Von Canon blames Joe Biden for the border crisis.
- Republicans don't want to fix the border crisis; they want to campaign on it.

Republicans are not obliged to do their jobs. What problems do culture wars, religion (without results), and lies solve in your community?
The WWE Smackdown crap may get high ratings, but it won't stop chemicals from being dumped into the water or clean the air. Their bully tactics are undermining our Democracy.
Republicans no longer have to earn your votes; now, they depend on culture wars, religion, and full-frontal manipulation to get people to vote against their own well-being.
5. When Politicians Invoke "Jesus"— There is Always a Hidden Purpose
First, if you have to tell folks you're Christian — they probably wouldn't be able to tell otherwise.
Remember — Even the devil can quote scripture.
- A political reference to Jesus is a dead giveaway that there will be lies to follow!

The separation of Church and State, the other name for the Establishment Clause, is the foundation of America.
It's a big deal!
The ONLY reason Republicans are backing the dissolution of the Establishment Clause is because of the devastation it would cause to the Constitution and benefit Vladimir Putin.
6. Simpleton Verbiage — is a sign of Disrespect
There is another commercial by Fred that I couldn't find on his webpage.
In the commercial, Fred said, "How do "you keep criminals out of your house? You lock the door."
It reminds me of an Opie Taylor scene from The Andy Griffith Show filmed in Mayberry. The only things missing from Fred’s commercials are freckles, cowlicks, and finishing each sentence with the word "Pa."
Republicans voted against securing the Southern border to honor Donald Trump. Pledging loyalty to a man out on bail in four states and under 91 felony counts is something we should judge them rather harshly on.
Oath of Office I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
7. This Oath Doesn't Make Men and Women Honest — It’s A Promise
Con artists come in various forms, not just resembling George Santos. Some may even disguise themselves as trusted individuals, such as those who carry guns and Bibles. The point is that if someone lies to secure a job, it is likely that they will continue to lie to keep their position.
Liars don’t keep promises.
8. Republicans Manipulate Their Constituents and Honor Their Donors
Republicans are dumbing people down, attacking education, and exploiting people for not being smart enough to see through their manipulative tactics.
- Fred Von Canon lives just outside the district he wants to represent.
When they break the rules before getting into office, you can bet your bottom dollar they will not stick to the rules once elected.
9. If They Lie to Get the Job — When Does Truth Become Valuable?
Most people don't have to suffer Fred Von Canon commercials. But the Republican Party is using the same template and tactics across the board to manipulate and trick voters.
Those who resort to deceit and manipulation in any context will continue to do so without regard for their responsibilities to the people who elect them — while maintaining loyalty to the corporations who fund them.
Politics matter, and you can only protect your rights and your children’s future by being an informed voter.
