Ten Simple “Do”s and “Don’t”s to Be Worthy of Love and Belonging

In The Gifts of Imperfection, shame and vulnerability researcher Brene Brown offers ten simple rules for Wholehearted living. People who live Wholeheartedly believe in their worthiness. They believe that they deserve love and connection to others, and to live meaningful lives. People who do not live Wholeheartedly feel that they are not good enough, and do not deserve love and connection.
If you want to feel more worthy of love and belonging, follow these ten simple “Do”s. And stop doing the corresponding “Don’t”s.

DO: Be your true and authentic self DON’T: Care what other people think about you
2️⃣ Compassion
DO: Have compassion toward yourself DON’T: Try to be perfect
3️⃣ Resilience
DO: Bounce back when you get knocked down DON’T: Play the victim role or give away your power
4️⃣ Gratitude
DO: Focus on the things you’re thankful for DON’T: Worry about “what if”
5️⃣ Faith
DO: Trust your intuition DON’T: Wait until you’re certain to act
6️⃣ Creativity
DO: Forge your own path DON’T: Compare yourself to others
7️⃣ Relaxation
DO: Take time for rest and recovery DON’T: Work to exhaustion
8️⃣ Serenity
DO: Find your still, silent center DON’T: Embrace anxiety
9️⃣ Purpose
DO: Find meaning in your connections with others DON’T: Base your life on what you think you “should” do

Conclusion
If you want to live a meaningful life, truly connect with others, and feel both loved and loving, look at that list of ten attributes. Stop doing the “don’t”s. Start doing the “do”s.
