Temporary Pleasures Lead To A Lifetime Of Regret: Learn To Say No
You are what you do and think
Show me your friends and I’ll show you who you’re going to become. Poor influences aren’t the only bad habits one can adopt.
Drinking, smoking, and over-indulgence in porn kill us from the inside out.
You’re not naive. You know what's good for you but you still continue to indulge in things that don’t serve you.
I don’t tell you that it needs to stop. You already know this.
Life is fickle. One day you’re here and the next day you’re not. But while you have the chance, don’t you want to become the best version of yourself?
Or would you rather throw your dreams and ambitions away because you can’t control your urges?
Life wouldn’t be any fun without a bit of chaos, it’s necessary for you to elevate to the next level.
But too much chaos, well that’s another story.
We confuse pleasure with happiness as if we can find it at the bottom of a bottle, or through constant climax.
Bad habits are pleasures in disguise, and too much of it leads destroys your willingness and drive.
Pleasures are like Greek sirens, luring you in just to decimate you when its all over.
I know because I’ve been there.
My life has been filled with ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and good and bad events. I know they say to grow stronger one must be tested, but when you’re imposing the problems upon yourself it gets tiring.
We all make mistakes. But make it more than once and it's a choice.
Social media has given birth to a new era of slaves. The average individual spends around 8 hours a day submerged in their devices, with little acknowledgement of the world around them.
‘People will reach for a charger before their phones die, but not a plan before their dreams die.’
It hurts to see beautiful minds wasted. I’ve watched dreams die, and people change for the worse all because they relinquished control of their lives.
Memento mori my friend. Remember, one day you will die.
Life isn’t forever, and I’m not a big believer in the afterlife. I believe all you have is here and now.
But there’s always hope. Nothing is indefinite.
If you have this deep desire to bring good into the world, let go of the things preventing your progress.
We all yearn for a higher purpose, a higher potential, and the best we can be. The stoics call this arete or excellence. Bringing forth the best you in every moment no matter the circumstance.
I believe this is something we should all strive for by letting bad habits go.
And if you don’t want to do it for you then do it for the people you love.
I’m not perfect by any means, none of us are. We have flaws, we make mistakes and we’re rough around the edges, but this doesn’t mean we can’t strive for better.
Greatness in my eyes isn’t who has the most money, the best car or the most extravagant watch.
Greatness comes from within.
You don’t have to take my word for it. If you want to continue living a life of stress, anxiety and misery then keep on indulging.
But when ten years are up, and life didn’t pan out how you thought, you’ll remember this blog, and the only person you’ll have to blame is yourself.
So make your future self proud, because the decisions you make today will influence your tomorrow.
