But, why teach English abroad?
In this post we look at the top 5 benefits to moving overseas and teaching English.
Let’s jump straight in!
Travel Opportunities
TEFL is an excellent way to travel the world and explore different parts of the globe. You’ll get to learn about different cultures, meet new people from all walks of life, and see some of the best natural wonders in the world. The best part is that the travel opportunities are not just limited to the country you’re teaching in! My personal favourite thing about teaching English abroad is the affordability to jump to another country for a vacation or long weekend. For example — it would cost me thousands to fly to Japan from the United Kingdom, but from South Korea, where I was based for 3 years, I could fly to Tokyo for less than 100 dollars.
Personal development
Teaching English abroad is a great opportunity for personal growth. Putting yourself out of your comfort zone allows you to challenge yourself, become more independent, and improve your self-confidence.
Cultural immersion
As I mentioned before, teaching English abroad allows you to immerse yourself in a new culture, interact with locals, and experience the country’s customs, traditions, and way of life. You can also learn a new language and gain a better understanding of different cultural perspectives.
Making a difference
Teaching English abroad can be extremely rewarding! You can make a positive impact on the lives of your students, help them to achieve their goals, and empower them with new skills and knowledge. The job provides a sense of fulfilment and purpose.
Career advancement
TEFL can enhance your career prospects by providing cross-cultural teaching experience, enriching your CV, and showcasing your adaptability and flexibility to future employers.
So, there you have 5 reasons why you should go abroad and teach English!
