Technology Literacy In The Age Of Advanced Technology
Learning to use better the technology we have can encourage and inspire our providers.
As technology is evolving, at an unstoppable and uncontrollable speed, an important skill that we all need at this rate is the ability to adapt.
By learning to adapt to the developing technology, we will be up to date with the tools and software available that can automate and ease our lives. The power and the influence of technology at this stage are obvious, and those that can take advantage of it will always be ahead, simply because most things if not, everything nowadays is technology influenced.
I remember when I was younger, growing up in London when we needed to buy or watch movies, we had to go to stores like Blockbusters etc. Things have drastically changed to the point that we almost don’t remember the feeling of walking into these stores.
Thank God for technology, now we have things like Netflix, making it easier to watch movies and programs on the comfort of our gadgets. We are now able to check our heart rates through apple watches; we can now make transactions from anywhere, whether with a bank card or mobile payment systems.
We can leverage the benefits of technology in many ways, even as we get on with life, commute to work, transiting jobs, whatever it is, there’s always going to be a way technology is could to help us.
Now, it doesn’t end there. We need to understand that it’s important to know a bit more about how these technology functions and how to maintain them. As consumers, we are not just responsible for buying gadgets and services but for also understanding how we can better use them and look after them.
Most organisations provide schemes and training to their employees to better prepare and equip them with the knowledge to use new technologies. We can also motivate ourselves to learn beyond what we are trained to do at work. Educating ourselves on the upcoming technology and systems and those available and what we can make good use of depending on our needs.
Learning about the technologies available could give us many options and advantages, whether at work, in our businesses or our personal projects and more. It could shorten the time we spend working on long projects and tasks.
Technology literacy refers to a familiarity with digital information and devices, increasingly essential in a modern learning environment. Technology literacy is similar to digital literacy, in that an individual who is technologically or digitally literate is well-versed in thinking critically and communicating by utilizing technology. These individuals understand how to consume, create, authenticate and share digital content, and can easily adapt to new technologies. https://tophat.com/
Technology literacy is benefiting every industry and organisations, whether small or big, are becoming technology literate, and nobody wants to stay behind or miss out on the opportunities this new technology is bringing.
Assessing the right technology or products so that we can produce good quality work can raise our standards. As mentioned above, it will not only ease the process of working, creating, managing our day to day tasks but with the help AI; we get an extra edge.
AI
An acronym for Artificial Intelligence is the technology behind the predictive system on Google and Netflix’s recommendation system and many more activities we do on our screens. In a nutshell, it’s a technology made to mimic the human mind and way of thinking to improve human’s use of technology and humans work habits and even transportation and more.
Automation
Often confused with AI and often used interchangeably, yet the two are fundamentally different.
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is the delivery of on-demand computing services — from applications to storage and processing power — typically over the internet and on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Rather than owning their own computing infrastructure or data centres, companies can rent access to anything from applications to storage from a cloud service provider. One benefit of using cloud computing services is that firms can avoid the upfront cost and complexity of owning and maintaining their own IT infrastructure, and instead pay for what they use when they use it. In turn, providers of cloud computing services can benefit from significant economies of scale by delivering the same services to a wide range of customers.
Data
Data is a collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or just descriptions of things.
Blockchain
The blockchain is a simple yet ingenious way of passing information from A to B in a fully automated and safe manner. One party to a transaction initiates the process by creating a block. Thousands verify this block, perhaps millions of computers distributed around the net. The verified block is added to a chain, which is stored across the net, creating not just a unique record, but a unique record with a unique history. Falsifying a single record would mean falsifying the entire chain in millions of instances. That is virtually impossible.
Robotic
Robotics is an interdisciplinary sector of science and engineering dedicated to the design, construction and use of mechanical robots.
Programming
Understanding Programming in layman terms: Programming is a way to instruct the computer to perform various tasks.
“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don’t really even notice it, so it’s part of everyday life.” — Bill Gates
So how can we benefit from this we can benefit from this by becoming a bit more educated with the current technology in a way that when you understand how technologies evolve and adapt to technology that better suits your need your businesses or your daily habits. Then you’d understand that.
