Teachers, it’s Time to Snap Back at Society!
If you’re a teacher, know a teacher or care for a teacher, please read.
Right now, teachers are in the cross-hairs of the Republicans. What happened? When did they decide to criminalize one of the most important, necessary, and vital professions globally?
Teachers have always been such an essential part of my world.
I can remember Mrs. Barbra was my 3rd-grade teacher and the first teacher that made me understand that learning was meaningful.
Mr. Pete Fenton was my Law Professor in college and where I received my degree in Criminal Justice. He taught me so much about life, hard work, and, yes- Criminal Justice just by being a fantastic teacher!
For many of us, teachers were that lifeline, often that “one person who listened,” and the one that you’ll never forget.
Why?
What’s the motive? We always need to consider the “why?” Why would Governor DeSantis go after teachers? He went to Harvard and Yale — he’s no dummy. An idiot, yes, but he’s not a dummy.
Governors like DeSantis must be stopped. He wants to win at any cost, and he’s ok with you paying the price.
Who is going to stop them?
Only teachers can stop him.
Democrats have their hands full trying to put out all the fires intentionally set by Republicans to DISTRACT voters from having to do their JOB, which seems to be like playing whack-a-mole.
Republicans are willing to do anything for power, including outlawing education and making our country so ignorant — even Yosemite Sam could take us. They are making you public enemy #1. They’re willing to do anything— except their jobs!
Teachers, it’s up to you, the frontline workers, to fight back against the ignorant, power-hungry fools making your job a hostile work environment for made-up excuses and vague laws that make it impossible to do your job.
Martin Luther King Jr used litigation many times in his fight for Civil Rights! Because he knew -ONE- of our tools is the legal system. We know democracy is on the line, but we leave the battle up to the ones in the office.
Did we learn nothing about “Good Trouble” by John Lewis?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was also excellent at knowing the law needed to change for people to get how important it is to have equality in our government!
We need you to fight back with litigation. It works.
Please make no mistake; public school is ground zero for our country!
Quietly disagreeing isn’t an option anymore. I’m sorry, but that’s not going to work. There are too many loud, ignorant, and angry Republicans.
We need to be LOUDER!
You have to use the tools in your toolbox. All of the tools!
They aren’t just targeting LGBTQ kids — they’re targeting TEACHERS! Pitting parents [some who never even return a teacher’s phone call] against teachers — and they are now able to sue you [for about anything according to the vagueness of the new wave of “Pro-idiot” laws] passed by governors like DeSantis who want to keep people ignorant because it gives them POWER.
These laws are hate-wrapped in religious freedoms that destroy our nation’s trust fabric that holds us together.
I call bullshit! All of these laws are INSANE!
My advice is to make the legal system do its damn job and remind people that we are a country of laws to protect the people and serve the people, and these laws will only hurt teachers and students and our [collective] future.
We have so much more power to fight back than we realize!
