Tapping Into Your Inner Child

Healing Trauma With EFT and Plushies

They say when you’re healing, you tap into your vulnerability and may feel like a child. Hey, I’m just a kid at heart with a collection of huggables. Cuteness reigns supreme in the basket of plushies.

I remember when we sold the old house, one of the visiting couples had remarked I had more plushies than the kids.

What of it? You jelly? They’re just too darn cute to leave on the shelf. They demanded to be taken home and hugged.

A lot of the trauma that I’ve been healing has been related to childhood trauma. Even the abuse trauma has links to my childhood, as freaky as that sounds. Healing my Inner Child has been a journey.

Before finding my tapping therapist, I only had vague knowledge from having done EFT at the age of 12 or 13.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique, where you tap on meridian points on your face and body to rewire, as it were, your mind, reframe your past, and undo the brainwashing. In more scientific terms, it taps into (pun intended) your brain’s neuroplasticity, the part that’s ever changing and can be molded through affirmation or brainwashing.

When I wrote this capsule of Healing Through Humour, I went through a phase of feeling very self-conscious about tapping on myself. I also didn’t know all the exercises I do today. Tapping and affirmations is so instinctive now.

Hubby encouraged me to tap on my plushies. Well, that made for a lot of tapping, because your girl has an entire army of plushies. Oh, yes, and I’m not ashamed to say it, an army!

I’d like to share a poem by Sam Letterwood about laundry rebelling against the machines. It’s absolutely adorable and fits with the cuteness theme of my story.
