Tanner’s Brilliant Idea
To change the world
Ever since childhood Tanner had wanted to be known as a man who changed the world. He came up with inventions and ideas and strategies he hoped would affect all humans; humankind itself. That was his ultimate goal so he learned as much as he could and also he tested his ideas regularly.
None of his ideas had yet been accepted by anyone. People don’t like change. It’s hard to change the prevailing zeitgeist. But Tanner kept thinking and kept trying. He was determined to come up with an idea that would affect every single solitary human.
And then one day, while eating potato chips, a brilliant idea came to him. He was sure this was the idea that would bring him eternal fame.
The idea was to do away with the current names for months. January through December are all out. Instead we give each new month it’s very own unique name, never to be repeated. We could name months like meteorologists name hurricanes. And we can give them boy and girl names. The first month could be the month of Alexandra, the second month could be Billy, the third month, Cecilia, the fourth month Daniel and so on.
If someone asked you when you were born you could say, “I was born in the month of Kathleen, 2020. When people reminisced they could say something like, “We sure had a special time back in Trevor, 2019.” People would make their vacation plans for the month of Isabelle. People would remember that horrible, tragic month of Quincy.
There are enough boy and girl names to stretch out far, far into the future. The name of every single month would be different and unique.
Think about it. That is something that could profoundly tweak mass consciousness. It would affect every single person and their lives would all change. Humans are so trained in their thinking that if you change just one thing that they all have in common that sends ripples through time and space. Everyone would be forced to think differently and that will have profound consequences. Everything would be different. The world would be changed.
Tanner was convinced that this idea would be his ticket to fame. Thousands of months into the future people would still be talking about him. It was the best idea he ever had.
And now all he had to do was convince everyone else to go along with it.
