Tango — A Blonde Cat
March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Pet People”
Ben: I don’t like blonde cats!
I brought two cats and three dogs into our relationship. The cats were both gone, Jollymon followed by Chewey. We needed a cat — I needed a cat.
After seeing a Facebook post from our pet-sitter saying that she had a stray cat needing a home, I showed the kitty’s photo to Captain Argentina.
After studying the photo Ben made two statements.
The first was: I don’t like blonde cats!
My heart sank.
Then, he said: His name is Tango.
Giving the Facebook kitty a name, despite Ben’s dislike of blonde cats, gave me extreme hope. I met the-cat-tentatively-named-Tango the next morning.
My pet-sitter put him next on the sofa next to me. His golden eyes studied me. Then, he gently put his paw on my thigh. That was the sign I needed. I rushed through work that day and brought him home that evening.
Tango was “our” first pet.
Turns out Ben loves blonde kitties — well, at least this one!
Tango is the king of our home and our hearts.
