Tangerine Skies
Sunset joyride With tangerine skies You wore my sunglasses And I rolled my eyes
Great Lakes Selfies breaks Watching waves Slowly take The sun away
We watched the sky All the while — wide-eyed And we witnessed Slow dancing stars Seductively steal the show How it happened We’ll never know We weren’t scientists Or astronomers Just two kids alone Witnessing a miracle That apparently Happens daily
But busy lives And drunken nights Get in the way Of witnessing daily delights
It’s no wonder People fall out of love And grow tired of all this
It’s working hard And playing hard And never slowing down
Living fast Dying young Growing old Never growing happy And never slowing down
