Tall Men Have Prettier Girlfriends And Other Advantages
Man, life can be unfair…
“I could never date a guy who isn’t at least six feet tall.”
This is what a female friend of mine said the other day. It seems like height is something that is quite important for the attractiveness of a man. At least for some women.
But not only on the dating market but also in other areas of life, tall men have a clear advantage.
Some of these effects are truly shocking in my opinion.
1. Tall Men Make More Money
The psychologists Timothy A. Judge, PhD, of the University of Florida, and researcher Daniel M. Cable, PhD, of the University of North Carolina analyzed long-term studies that followed a total of 8,500 participants from adolescence through adulthood.
They came to the shocking conclusion that a 6-foot-tall man earns a whopping $166k more than a 5-foot-5 man over a 30-year career.
Another interesting fact that shows the professional advantage of being tall:
58% of CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are over 6 feet tall. In the general American population, however, only 14.5% of men are over 6 feet tall.
2. Tall Men Are More Attractive
For men, size is an important factor in attractiveness. Almost all women want a man who is significantly taller than them. Evolutionary psychologists say that this represents dominance and the ability to defend and women are therefore hardwired to find tall men attractive.
However, you can not generalize the most attractive size. It’s more about the right proportion, which is why very small women may prefer men who are not quite so tall. In the following article, I have dealt with this topic in more detail.
3. Tall Men Are Happier
Considering the above two points, it is no surprise that tall men are also happier. Reuters wrote:
Data from a Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index study found taller people were more satisfied with their lives, more likely to report positive emotions like enjoyment and happiness, and less likely to report emotions like anger, sadness, and stress.
“On average, men who gave their lives the worst possible rating were more than three-quarters of an inch shorter than the average man,” the researchers said in a statement.
What To Do As A Short Man?
The more we value things outside our control, the less control we have. — Marcus Aurelius
Yes, being tall is an advantage. If you are particularly short, you probably already knew that. The problem is that we cannot control our size. Therefore, being bitter about it won’t change a thing but make you miserable.
All we can do is think like a stoic, accept it, and work all the harder on the things we can control.
