PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Taking a Closer Look
Fourth Week in September
How little we know of what there is to know. -Ernest Hemmingway
Day 1
The purple grass at my local park catches my eye each Fall. I walked up to take a closer look. It is amazing how faint and fluffy each poof of purple really is. It takes the whole bunch together to really shine.

Day 2
I see this bridge from the highway on my way home from work. It was such a beautiful day I decided to take an exit to get a closer look.
There are many bridges across this river leading from my state, Pennsylvania to our neighboring state, New Jersey. I was glad to also see the next bridge down the river in the more distant background.
Bridges intrigue me in many ways: the structure, design, interesting vantage points for viewing them and the surrounding setting, and the concept of bridging gaps and connecting things in all areas of life.

Day 3
A sweet treat from a neighbor’s honeybees. Looking closely at this brings so much wonder…How wild is this waxy creation?

Day 4
While I was taking this photo the grasshopper slowly slid around the other side of the flower but kept its eye on me. Who was taking a closer look at who? Were we both wondering?

Day 5
I have taken pictures of these flowers throughout the season. They line the street where I park for work. I love the way the sun shines through them as it rises above the houses. They brighten my morning! Are they enjoyed or ignored by others?

Day 6
This daytime moon got a double-take. I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye as I walked by my living room window. I stepped outside to capture it. I love a daytime moon, a phenomenon I don't fully understand.

Day 7
The offseason is the best time for the beach and the boardwalk! This beautiful shore town in New Jersey is about an hour and a half away from New York City. I took a closer look at the posters on the sand dune — Never Forget, 9–11.

Final Thoughts
Taking a closer look allows us to wonder, learn, and connect — some of the most important ingredients of our individual and collective wellbeing.
Thanks for reading. I hope everyone slows down from time to time so they can take a closer look.
