Take the Compliment When Someone Is Giving It to You!
Please

If someone says this to you, what will be your initial reaction? Wich of the following would it be?
A. Nah, you are being too kind
B. An awkward smile
C. Thanks!
I’m guessing that for most of you, your instinctive reaction is A or B.
We go for the option A and B to try to seem humble. I don't know why, but our society believes that if we hesitate when we are being praised, we will be considered humble. When a celebrity receives an award, they go up to the stage and thank everyone but themselves for their efforts, and sometimes, they even stand up there, saying, “This award is for all the other nominees.”
The main point is if you are being praised or you are being given a compliment, take it! It doesn’t make you overconfident to say “Thank you” after someone says “You are smart” or “You are pretty”.
To be polite, you only have to do two things.
Return the compliment, but only if you genuinely believe in the compliment you are about to pass on. Don’t return the compliment just to appear polite. You won’t if you are not genuine.
Give the credit where it’s due. That means, if your teacher has worked hard with you, give them credit. If your mother has been a big support, give her credit. If your colleagues have been fair in the division of work with you, give them credit for that. And if you have genuinely put in effort for something, give yourself credit for it, and don’t be ashamed of it! So, if a celebrity says “This award is for all the other nominees”, it is nice of them to appreciate the hard work put in by other contributors. I just hope, that while they distribute the credit among all of them, they keep a bit for themselves.
A tyrant is someone who will not distribute the credit. A hero is someone who will distribute the credit to everyone who deserves it, including themselves!
So be proud of the things you are being complimented on, and accept them.
