Take Solace in the Solstice
Alliteratively
It’s Solar System’s secret Take solace in the solstice Soothing the soul’s impatience For the season’s seeming slowness
The science of our spinning Sure as eyes that shut for sleeping For incessant insomnia, Crushed passionflower steeping
Early dusks that bring disorders And obscure sanity’s sense Sagacity’s reason returns Solstice holds back the dense
Snow seeps below skin and sinew Her presence heals winter’s cost Stand still, it’s the stars’ sky now Winds swiftly sweep what’s left of loss
Shiver certainly, but notice Slivers of shimmer in the ice Cast more shadows than yesterday Thoughts of summer should suffice.
