Take Quick, Quality Photos of Small Objects

Product Review: Puluz Foldable Photo Box

Photos by Jerry D Clement; used with permission

When I need a picture of something, I usually just ask my husband and resident professional photographer to do it for me. He’ll take care of setting up the lights and backdrop, shooting the photo, and editing it.

But sometimes I need a picture of a small item and I don’t have time to wait for him to do it. And sometimes he doesn’t want to have to set up the big lights and backdrop for one small shot.

We found the solution with the Puluz foldable photo box/portable studio kit.

This is small, easy to assemble, and convenient to store. It has a built-in adjustable LED light (USB power) and openings from the top and front so you can shoot from multiple angles. It also has backdrop sheets in 12 colors. It comes with a storage bag that is large enough to accommodate an adapter for connecting to A/C power.

When I say small, I mean small. It’s a 9x9x9.5" cube. In our test photos, we used 2x2" milestone blocks and didn’t have much room to spare. But even pictures taken with my cell phone look good.

Another issue is that your image will show some of the texture of the side walls, so you might need to do some cropping.

Even with those drawbacks, this is a convenient tool for amateur and professional photographers — and it’s affordable.
