Take My Breath Away
The first words, they rush at me through the open door into the hallway spilling, like a cross between cascading fire ants and kids of kindergarten age a brief panic rising within me of tripping, falling, losing the height advantage and looking up to see those eyes those big bug eyes crowding around me the words, they don’t allow escape…
The first pages, they are of denial the love affair with the previous one not yet ended every line you read you want unwritten, every page you turn you want turned back, but little by little they draw you in until you, degenerate coward you, unscrupulous, disloyal you, give in again.
And even when you’ve found the book you want to die reading there’s yet another one, waiting to take your breath away.
