TAG’s tips for travel no.2: Find Your Travel Buddy

As we begin to plan travel after the COVID, our anxieties triggered by travel are on overload. One way to make the most of your vacay is to FIND YOUR TRAVEL BUDDY.

This person is someone who doesn’t cut you down or shut you out when you get the jitters or hyperventilate. It is someone who understands or loves you enough to try. This someone shares some of your passions, complementing your desires, while also injecting fun by being their own person and maybe even introducing you to new experiences!

Much of this is about what you need to feel comfortable and who you feel comfortable with. Don’t have anyone? Travel alone or with your pet until you do. Nothing kicks my anxiety into high gear like when I find myself in a foreign place with people who respond to my anxiety with eye-rolling. Find your triggers, know them, and ONLY travel with people who can deal.

My partner is my travel buddy, but it can be a friend, a co-worker, a family member or a pet. I’ve been fortunate to travel freely with my sister and then my dog Bella, and now Jeremy. Since knowing and traveling with him, I can honestly say I have never enjoyed traveling more than when we’re together.

I still freeze in fear when we travel, but it is met with love and consciousness instead of annoyance and that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

I’ve got great plans for MORE TRAVEL in spite of my triggers, and I’m learning what I love. This gives me the strength to share my story and my travel tips with y’all!

Even if you LOVE traveling, getting back to it may be hard the first few times; it’s been a big year. Let’s plan to take care of ourselves as we begin our adventures again.

Big Love & Happy Travels, Y’all! Brett Jenae
