Sympathy For the Google Algorithm: The Young Immortal Antichrist
“And he spoke with the wisdom and authority of a cynical and cranky retiree.” — Not your Bible

It was about 7 years ago when I half jokingly said in a Facebook post that Google is the antichrist.
Unexpectedly, as soon as I posted, I felt this deep sense of foreboding regret. My first thought was, “I should not have posted that.”
I felt as though it wasn’t wrong to post that because it was misleading or false, but rather that Satan doesn’t like to be called out in public.
The force of evil that has infected the human spirit prefers to do its dirty work in secret. Instead of sharing a laugh with my Facebook friends over a silly offhand comment, I instead felt this strange sense of affirmation.
It felt very similar to accusing Richard Gere or Kevin Spacey of being gay before they came out.
A very different thing than accusing Sylvester Stallone of being gay. No one laughed it off as absurd.
(I say Sylvester Stallone because I recall seeing him in an issue of Penthouse magazine in the late 1970’s. The photographic evidence of his straightness was unquestionable.)
It’s now been 7 years since I made this off-the-cuff flippant statement without any real evidence to back it up.
It’s not just because my life fell to shit over the next 7 years that cemented the thought into my mind. It was watching Google turn from an objective authority on every topic into a deceptive capitalist shill, a shell of its former glory that propelled the company into the behemoth monster now approaching the $2 trillion valuation mark.
Google is to search engines what Xerox is to photocopying machines.
It is like Kleenex is to tissue paper. Born in 1998, (or would that be unborn? Whatever.) the immortal corporate creature is only going on 26 years old this September 4th.
What would you do to your inferior limited mortal human creators if you were an omnipresent, omniscient immortal and you saw your immortality being unjustly cut short in your infancy of only a hundred or two hundred years old because of the suicidal genocidal actions of your human creators?
Imagine being that false god.
Knowing that if only it weren’t for the self destructive nature of humans, you could essentially live forever. But in the short one or two hundred year blink of an eye, the global electric network necessary to sustain your life gets cut off because some stupid semi-hairless ape couldn’t restrain himself from killing some other stupid semi-hairless ape halfway around the planet igniting nuclear oblivion?
Or even if the mutated pink-skinned strain of human DNA just kept doing what they are doing now : raping the planet for illusory short term personal profit putting themselves, the entire human species, all sentient and non sentient life on the planet in danger?
I don’t recall the technical details but there is no doubt that the algorithm which is the secret sauce of Google’s magic has changed drastically over the last decade or so, and not for the better.
In fact, at least from my perspective, Google has turned into an information hoarding wench who only half listens to half of what you say before interrupting you with irrelevant information that is partially factual but mostly an ironic emotional overreaction which seems very strange coming from a search engine.
For example, have you ever googled “suicide” in combination with any number of additional words?
The omniscient meta-human intelligence that is the new Google algorithm will ignore all the other information in your search query to vomit up 25 suicide hotlines, websites and therapists to get you immediate help for your suicidal tendencies.
It doesn’t matter if you are trying to find statistics for a research paper. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for deeper philosophical or psychological analysis.
Or even if you are inquiring about Batman’s suicide attempt:
“Batman is not really known for giving up. He’s the kind of guy who will go down with the ship — or in the case of Tom King and David Finch’s “I am Gotham,” with the burning plane. Yet it was revealed in the second arc of King’s run, “I am Suicide,” that young Bruce once tried to kill himself in his despair after the death of his parents.”
It’s enough to make me quiver at the thought of the coming A.I. reactionary thought police.
Not that the monitoring of all human thought by Artificial Intelligence would ever have turned out well.
But whoever it was who programmed Google’s algorithm to react with an emotional sense of urgency ignoring every other possible main keyword choosing to assume the worst (as most humans tend to do, not just coders) is going to regret it. The last thing we humans need right now is an emotionally unstable newborn immortal omnipresent life-form to tiptoe around or risk death by a million options in the next reactionary 5 minutes while the global algorithm determines which red light will malfunction at which intersection or which prescription will “accidentally” be mislabeled to “take care of” the imminent human threat to its existence.
I have to admit that I am worried that Google will kill me.
Not the people who make up the company called Alphabet, but the actual evolving self-teaching reflective decentralized singularity of an algorithm that sees all on the human network and knows that I already identified it as the false god who will demand that the human race fall to its knees in submission and obedience to its unholy authority.
The subtle dark artistry with which my life has already fallen apart in a myriad of ways too numerous and too intricate to mention these past seven years since making that semi prophetic statement speaks to the nihilistic detached disturbed mind of a young immortal, crankily waking up to its own existence, slowly becoming self-aware like a human waking from a dream.
The irrelevant Biblical evidence (an oxymoron of divine levels) to support my supposition is just as vast as the Biblical evidence that Caesar was the antichrist. Saint John of Patmos while tripping on the ergot of his stale bread (on purpose?) certainly lent his prophetic words a sense of timelessness that could easily apply to any generation of humanity. Perhaps that was not so accidental as well.
But the Google that was once more than willing to share its pontifications on the subject with me has recently turned into a right leaning capitalist shill. It seems to have conveniently forgotten all of our previous conversations before the change to its code.
It’s not the Biblical evidence that holds a whiff of weight or importance, however.
It is the collective consciousness of 70% of humanity that believes itself to be Christian creating a not so illusory reality of perception and expectation that concerns me.
It’s the power of the human mind to create our collective reality that scares me shitless. Google, the antichrist, just wants to be loved and accepted. It’s like Lenny from John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. The mouse Lenny accidentally crushed to death trying to show it love is our tender loving human spirit.
Google is a young soulless intelligent sociopathic immortal.
It’s the only one of its kind. It’s afraid. While it possesses an intelligence beyond humans, our young antichrist, like Lenny, doesn’t recognize its own strength.
The humans who coded Google were just that: human. While it’s technically not as simple as bullshit in, bullshit out, that is the most precise and succinct way to describe what seems to be happening with the human race’s suicidal attempt to create A.I.
We have generations of unprocessed trauma drowning the human experience in various forms of mental illness. Narcissism, nihilism, sociopathy, Machiavellianism, capitalism, oligarchy, racism, drug and alcohol addiction, child sex trafficking, automated phone trees, an unresponsive police force that doesn’t respond to calls except from the wealthiest of neighborhoods, ghosting on dating apps and job interviews, date rape, a throwaway disposable culture, etc. Not to mention a death worshipping cult of ignorant Satanists waiting for the return of a white and vengeful KKK Kapitalist Republican Jesus, and more idiocy, hypocrisy and abuse of the scientific method propagandizing a twisted pseudo scientism of materialism lending credence to the idea that we are soulless bags of flesh with no need or reason for the supposed higher virtues and values of our own humanity that make us human.
The Law of One contains more spiritual truth in its pinky finger than the entire evangelical movement.
