Swimming Through Solid Rock
What an outrageous feeling!
When we fall asleep it may seem like we are leaving density for lightness.
But dreams can feel so profoundly dense and heavy especially when we are swimming through solid rock.
Yet it is such a light feeling. We can even attain speed. The molecules just fall away.
We can still feel their heaviness, their solid immovable mass. But we feel something else, too.
We feel all the seemingly infinite emptiness between the molecules that provides us with little resistance.
We feel the infinite in time the emptiness in space and the power of our trajectory.
Every rock has its own flavor and feel as we swim through it.
When we finally awake our pillow seems so hard and solid as does our body as we move it.
The air of our first morning’s breath even seems thick and labored as we re-enter the other world.
There is a moment of balance of weightless re-entry an effortless passing through a door.
Then the weight of everything shifts; the heavy becomes light and the light becomes heavy.
Instead of swimming through solid rock we are once again swimming through air and the difference is sublimely subtle.
