Swimming in a Swiss Mountain Lake is Peaceful (and Cold)

And I definitely recommend you do it.

On our second day in Kandersteg, Switzerland we went up to the mountains for the Oeschinenlake.

The most beautiful place to swim.

If you open up your Instagram reels right now and search for Swiss Lake, this is definitely what you’re going to see.

Mostly blue water and no clouds.

One of the best places in Switzerland to take your photos. But because it was super hot that day, a perfect place to refresh and take a dive into the cold water.

It was really cold.

Even for a lake that had been warming in the sun for weeks, it felt like the Lake in Lugano last year May.

It’s a beautiful place to hike, swim, and just be alive.

Before you go on the route, you have this cute little restaurant where you can sit down and have a beer (just like I did).

But we did it the other way around and had the hike first.

We wanted to walk to the “Ultimate Oeschinenlake Viewpoint”, but that was like a 1.5-hour hike from where we were and we wanted to just chill and cool down from the warm weather.

Luckily we brought enough water because strangely there weren’t any refill locations in Oeschinen.

In most Swiss cities, towns, and even the smallest villages they have these little water fountains that can supply you with enough cold and refreshing water.

But not there.

There was only 1 option left…

That’s definitely a cold Swiss beer, and I absolutely enjoyed it.
