Sustainable Love: Amidst Vines and Bricks
Hold me like vines cling to walls and see how green I seem. How sustainable this is. All natural under Egyptian cotton. Cover my rough edges and conceal the scars. I’ve got graffiti all down my front. I’m not asking you to clean; just please never leave.
People look at you as if you’re going to tear me down, as if I can’t bear the weight of your love. I am made of bricks. I laid each one ready for you. I will hold you up as long as you need somewhere to lean.
One day we’ll collapse into each other, but we’ll have a lifetime of experience in the field. We’ll be under our cotton sheets as the world falls around us, we can only hope that everyone else knew love before the collapse, it’s the only sustainable thing.
