Valentine’s Day Surprise

A giant hazelnut, the size of a peach, presented itself on Valentine’s Day. I knew what was inside but the moment still came as a surprise. No, it wasn’t a ring. A handsome young man already put that on my ring finger when he popped the question on one knee.
I gave the crisp chocolate crust a tap with my spoon. The delicate shell burst open. An avalanche of passionate goodies gushed in all directions. White foam caressed the lava of Meyer lemon ice-cream. Roasted hazelnuts and caramelized hazelnut bits beg for my bite. A spoonful finds the lingering citrusy sweet lemon flavor a pleasant mix with robust crunchiness.
The avalanche beneath a flimsy crust, ready to burst at the slightest tap. We never know…
