Surely This Is Not The Only Way To Succeed At Blogging?

There’s one topic that everyone writing about is making a killing at

After tentatively starting to write on Medium regularly back in May 2023, I decided that I would go all-in last month. Of course, I chose the worst possible week and ended up deflated but now I’m back with a new strategy. I’ll update you in a few weeks with what that was and if it worked, but the most important thing to note is that I’m watching people who are doing very well at Medium closely to see what they do and how they do it. One thing seems to pop out at me.

They are all blogging about the same topic.

Well, I want success. And I want to be earning significant money on here. I want to make connections and learn new things. But if being successful amounts to writing about one topic, which is actually kind of boring once you’ve read half a dozen articles about it, I don’t think I want that success!

And I’m not wrong about this. People have whole second accounts dedicated to this topic. One blogger I know, who started sharing here recently, has touched on this topic and their posts about it had claps in the thousands and comments in the hundreds. It works.

But what is it?

It’s blogging.

People who blog about blogging are having huge amounts of success on here. They are reaching thousands of people and getting impressive stats, all because they are blogging about blogging.

I want to write about travel, and family, and yes of course I want to blog about my writing journey. You’ll see a lot more of that next month when NaNoWriMo begins, but surely there’s only so much you can say about blogging? I’m me, and I can’t be another blog about blogging clone. The sad thing is, I definitely don’t have enough time to dedicate to Medium to share all the travel stories and self-publishing advice I’d like to share but I’ll get there once I finish my degree.
