Vision boards are personal creations that inspire people in their careers, romantics seeking the ideal mate, and travelers dreaming of the perfect getaway. The idea of cutting out photos from magazines, headlines from newspapers, and incorporating personal tokens onto a poster board is that this visual aid will offer continued motivation in crushing one’s goals.
So why not create a vision board for your writing goals!
As the new year kicks off, I put together a beautiful vision board. In addition to coming up with specific resolutions, I am constructing a collection of photos, quotes from my favorite authors, daily mantras, stickers, and so on, reminding me not to lose focus on my goals and aspirations.
By hanging my posterboard in my writing workspace, I have a devoted messenger by my side, prompting me to keep at it. I will refer to my creation as my writing buddy; although silent, its presence will speak volumes about motivation and seeing things through.

All you need are:
- Scissors
- Construction paper, cardboard, or posterboard
- Magazines, newspapers, comics, etc
- Gluestick, push pins, tacks
- Markers
- Stickers, glitter, photos, and whatever else strikes your fancy
Take some time out of your day today, and create yourself a magnificent vision board reflecting all of your writing goals. Pinpoint your niche or niches, and let your imagination lead the way. Don’t forget to hang your creative collage in a place that catches your attention, and pat yourself on your back for a job well done!
