A Medium Mega Mash-Up Entry

Captain Baby’s bassinet-shaped spaceship whooshed over the lava of Vallennor, the volcano world.

“I’m not picking anything up,” Captain Baby said into the comm channel. “Anything on your end, Rex?”

Rex, the tiny Giganotosaurus who was his best friend answered, “Yaarrrrooouuugh…”

As always, being an ancient creature thrown into a future, incomprehensible reality, Rex wasn’t very helpful. She was cute, though.

Something finally showed up on the radar and Baby spilled the contents of his bottle on the console. He spoke into the radio. “Karen, can you hear me? It’s Captain Baby. I’m here to save you!”

The response came in an annoyed tone. “So late!”

“Well, I’m here now.” Baby maneuvered the ship toward a dark rocky peak sticking out of the lava.

“What is that? A bassinet?”

“Jesus, woman! I’m here to save you!”

Right as Baby said that, an explosion spread from the back of the ship, where Rex chewed into something she shouldn’t have: the ship’s nuclear engine.

The radiation instantly killed the dinosaur — and Karen — but instead of killing Baby, it actually gave him superpowers.

Floating above the lava planet, Baby contemplated the meaninglessness of his efforts in trying to save the unsavable. Right then, his superpower saved his consciousness, by showing him that life without meaning is still meaningful. That was the superpower. The end.
