Sunshine And Moonbeams
A Shakespearean sonnet
O how I’ve shied away from you, sunshine Hidden myself in dark cavernous pits Cloaked myself in pursuit of lofty wine A streak of madness has deadened my wits
I want to bathe in your warm, brilliant rays Feel your fiery caress upon my face But I am possessed of silvery ways Trapped in darkness far away from your grace
Broken, I witness your brilliance grow dim Stumble out into the moon’s silver stream Offering up to you this sacred hymn Promising I’ll try again next you beam
’Til then, La Lune I gift to you my all And harken not Le Soleil’s mighty call
