Sunset

The never-ending poem

“If you look at the sun in this picture, does it start to expand for you like it does for me?” — Mindil Markets, Darwin — Photo My Own

Artwork of the sky Brilliance way up high Calming moment to indulge Dreams with secrets to divulge Eternal flame of our lives Flickering light as night arrives Gifts a daily ritual Habitual, spiritual Ignites a comforting smile Justifying stopping a while Keeping words at bay Leading night from day Magic time to snap Nature’s beauty on tap Opacaraphile am I Positive powerful ally Quest for qi Radiates for you and me Synergy inflow Twighlight show Unequalled vision Vivid collision Welcoming the stars Xerarch memoirs Yields one more yesterday Zooming towards a new day

My mind pinged with excitement when I saw Ravyne’s prompt of sunset.

Sunset…this should be easy I thought. Sunsets are one of my favourite things.

Then I sat down to write…I got stuck.

How do I find the words to pay tribute to the brilliance of a sunset?

A daily event I rarely miss…even if all I can manage to notice is the afterglow — the magic hour where the light shines to enhance the little things I didn’t notice before.

It is a massive part of my life.

Watching a sunset never ceases to lift my mood. Silent. In awe of the stunning artwork that ripples from welcoming the night sky. Bringing darkness…Darkness to admire the night sky. The shimmering stars. The moon. To rest. To reset.

Part of the glorious magic the sky never ceases to give.

How does one get all that into words? Someone like me who has a simple tool kit of language at hand.

At this point, I still hadn’t written the poem I hope will be above all this tramble.

Time will tell.

PS — Tim Maudlin’s framework came to mind shortly after I started to write a poem… I needed a structure. The format of an abecedarian ended up being the saving grace to channel my admiration for the sunset.

Thanks to Ravyne Hawke for sparking this reflection from her this sensual piece

Thanks also to Martin Rushton who started the never-ending poem — one I am grateful to have been graced with numerous times now. I am smiling, smiling at all the golden ripples that started with his piece —

As with my other offering to the never-ending poems — Child’s Play and Happiness I invite anyone reading to join in the fun as they wish.

The prompt I offer is “Rose”. Interpret it as you will. Would sincerely love to indulge in any breadcrumbs you wish to leave to creations in the never-ending prompt.

Thank you for reading

Thank you for being you
