Sunny-Side Up with Lucy (The Egg Girl)
Author bio for Age of Empathy

Lucy (The Egg Girl) writes a new author bio at the end of each post because she firmly believes that the many tiny details make up the whole person. That these details can change, should change over time, to document the change and growth of a person or a writer.
This brings us to Age of Empathy, a publication by Aimée Gramblin, about poetry, fiction, essays, and most importantly (to me, anyways): growth. 🌱
Lucy (The Egg Girl) is a graduate student in psychology, trying to adapt her studies to be run purely online amidst a pandemic so that somehow she can still graduate on time. For the longest time, her only identity felt like being a full-time graduate student (working overtime), working around the clock to not feel like an imposter.
Now she realizes the importance and her value in this degree, but also that she can be a million other things:
A novice gamer

With the pandemic and spending more time at home, she’s tried out gaming on her PC for the first time in her life. She currently plays the game Don’t Starve Together poorly but enjoys it quite a lot.
Writer & poet

She is a writer and poet, and though unsure of how good she is, she continues to practice and hone her craft.
Home chef & foodie

She is a budding chef who approaches baking and cooking like she approached chemistry labs: with a hypothesis and follow-up lab report. She is passionate about learning about what makes food taste so good, and how she can achieve this on a low student budget.
Avid reader

After a long hiatus during her undergrad where it feels like a whole lifetime had passed and she had not been able to read for leisure, she reprised this habit during the lockdown. She is currently on track for her goal of reading 20 books this year, and would love to hear what book suggestions (yes, including plugging your own!) you might have.
That one weird friend

We all have that one weird friend who sends you updates on the weirdest phenomena out there in the world and asks you how you feel about it. If you do not have such a friend, Lucy is ready to fill that role.
Groupchat facilitator

Lucy had an idea 2 years ago to create a groupchat for a bunch of artists who wanted to share their work and support each other and she hasn’t stopped making groupchats since. As an avid Google Sheet user she now has a system to helps connect folks who want to create a groupchat with those who want to join.
Weird sticker designer

To save up for graduate school, Lucy started a side business of creating stickers. Since then, the memes and funny moments she’s shared with those around her have become her biggest hits. Why do so many people relate to the words moist and boneless pizza, anyways?
Can’t wait to continue growing as a poet and writer through the Age of Empathy community! Don’t be shy about reaching out; I’m also always happy to share others’ writing on Twitter under the #MediumPoetry and #MediumWriters tags.
