Summer and You
A poem

Resplendent trees pregnant with blooms of bougainvillea and Gulmohar thirsty, forsaken streets eager for respite from the unforgiving heat couples hording parks making most of these balmy evenings dark blinds drawn allowing just a flicker of the unyielding sun. And my heart? My heart still beats wildly for you each time summer arrives - when the parched earth patiently awaits as do weary little birds for the blistering temperature to wane. But me - I’ve never wished for summer to end for that would herald your departure too leaving my arid heart craving. Summer though, does leave as do lingering thoughts of you as I pause to breathe trying to hold on to you but you go away like seasons do making way for the rains to drench me cleanse me of you. Don’t return again a prayer escapes my parted lips the same ones you had once kissed - may you never return again marking my beautiful summers with transgressions of matters of the heart.
