SULTRY LOVE: EPISODE 9

Photo by Felix Koutchinski on Unsplash

The dating life is unpredictable and should not be scripted. Entering a relationship based on authenticity rather than a bunch of lines given from a written treatment is a pathway towards true happiness; true love should come naturally and not forced. Before dating apps hit the scene, you spent more time getting to know someone before completely dismissing them based on their profile. On the path of love or accomplishment, we must not be afraid to fail or make mistakes. Making mistakes regarding relationships is a part of life. We must not be afraid to forgive; having discontent or harsh feelings toward someone else isn’t healthy. Forgiving someone does not mean that you forget their actions; forgiving just means that you let go of any hate or loathing aspect.

The setting is night as Randy waits behind the building where Tina works. He’s holding two pairs of skates. Tina exits the back door to find him waiting for her.

“Where are the s’mores?”

“I got hungry,” Randy replied.

“Wow, and I was looking forward to my favorite meal of the day.”

“Dessert.”

“I can call it whatever I want.”

“And it’s night, not day.”

“Whatever.”

“You showed up after all. Now, I don’t entirely feel like a moron for waiting,” Randy said.

“I must say, I’m curious. At the same time, I’m completely out of my mind.”

“Well maybe I should revoke my offer; you could use that in court saying I took advantage of you. Your attorney would say, I object GATDAMMIT! He wouldn’t swear but you get the point-”

Tina laughs as Randy continues.

“She was out of her natural state of mind when they were together. Compensation must be awarded! Then I’ll be on the fortune five-hundred magazine like this-” Randy pokes out his bottom lip with a sad face. Then he shrugs his shoulders and spreads his arms.

“Please boy, you’re broke.”

“My heart is.”

“Oh my God, you need to stop.”

“You know me best.”

“You show up out of the blue, ask me out, and I’m crazy enough to say yes. This is so weird.”

“Strangers take bigger risks, it’s not like you don’t know me.”

“I know a version of you.”

“New and improved.” Randy crouches down and strikes a pose.

Tina rolls her eyes. “Are we just going to just stand here or are you going to take me to the plane, that you promised?”

“Hmm, let me think.”

Tina snatches the skates from Randy. “Just give me the damn skates.”

“Alright, well if I get there first. You owe me dinner.”

Tina fits on her skates and laces them.

“Wait! I don’t know where the place is! Of course, you’re going to beat me! And hey, weren’t you the one that asked me out?”

Randy and Tina skate down the sidewalk.

“Hey slow down, you’re not the one carrying a purse.”

“Who chose that big-ass purse?” Randy said.

“You don’t understand, a woman’s entire life is in her purse.”

“You probably have every record of history in that one bag; the spear of destiny, OJ’s glove, the works.”

“If I fall, you’re going to catch me right?”

“You never fell before.”

“I know but it’s been a while since I skated.”

“You’ll do fine, just let go and let the flow of rhythm guide you.”

“Rhythm? Ha, you never had rhythm,” Tina replied.

“I do now.” Randy dances while he skates.

Trauma or eventful experiences in your life can make a lasting impression. No matter how old you get, you will never forget that moment that changed your life or made you feel a certain way. “Ok, it’s time.” The instructor said as he opens the door. Air blows like the unforgiving wind of Chicago, Illinois.

“Are you ready?” Randy asked.

“What?” Tina replied.

“Are you READY?”

“WHAT? I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” Tina yelled.

“We’re going to go on the count of three! One, two-” The instructor leaps off the plane with Tina.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” Tina exclaimed while falling from the sky.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!” Lee exclaimed while trying to distract his opponents in a game of Charades at Randy’s apartment. Yvonne holds up the number two in front of Kevin and he responds. “Okay, second word.” Then she begins to jog.

“Run, run!

“Yes, yes!” Yvonne cheered.

Yvonne jumps up and down, starts to dance, and lifts her arms high. “Oh you guys are so much fun, I had no idea.” Kevin looks at the others stating “You’re up.” Then Yvonne brings up an important plan of action. “And don’t worry we’ll be doing the same to you, cheaters.”

Keys sound outside of the front door and Randy enters.

“Hey, what’s with all the noise?”

“Charades,” Yvonne said while kissing him on the lips. “Hey, baby.”

“Hey, hey, hahaha! HEY! Heeeeey!” Randy points at Yvonne.

“Hi, are you okay?” Yvonne asked.

“Yeah, yeah why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’re just acting weird.”

“I’m just surprised. I see you’ve made some new friends!”

“Yeah, they kind of grew on me,” Yvonne replied.

Lee smiles, pounds his chest with one fist and raises one fist into the air. Yvonne performs the same act.

“So where were you?” Yvonne asked.

“I was um….I was uh-” Randy rubs the back of his neck. “Hmm….I was you know-”

“No, I don’t know.”

“Window shopping,” Randy said.

“Window shopping? At this hour? Why?” Yvonne questioned.

“Because I got another job.”

“Huh? You’re not making any sense.”

“The job is modeling.”

“Whoa!” Randy’s crew voiced, with a high pitch.

“Shut yo’ mouth,” Yvonne said.

“Yep, and I owe it all to you.” Randy and Yvonne share another kiss.

“So, it looks like we’re all a family now.” Lee sabotaged the moment.

“And how did you come to that assumption?” Yvonne said while giving a puzzled look.

“You said so yourself,” Lee said.

“No, I said…I was warming up to you. I didn’t say that we were family. Don’t get it twisted, young’n. Baby steps, you’ve got to crawl before you can walk.”

“None taken,” Lee replied.

“So when is your first shoot?” Yvonne asked.

“Tomorrow evening.”

“And tonight?”

“Nothing, why?” Randy inquired.

Kevin deeply sighs while nodding with disbelief. “Still a padawan, still a padawan…listen, when a wom-”

“Shut it!” Randy said with displeasure.

“Yeah mind your business,” Lee added.

“Creep,” Victor expressed.

“Creep? Really? You of all people?” Kevin asked.

“Excuse me! I have something to add-” Lee said before glancing at Kevin. “Nevermind.” Lee gestures as if he’s zip-locking his mouth and Kevin offers a suggestion. “Maybe you need some more ducktape.”

“Kinky.” Lee retorted.
