SULTRY LOVE: EPISODE 5

Leisure is something we all enjoy and love. The bonus is while you’re relaxing, there is someone else to share it with. Pause for a moment and remember your first love. How did that person make you feel? The person that you could not wait to see the next day, or when you got home; you would go to sleep early with anticipation. Often you could meet your first love in middle school, high school, or college. Those were the times where you’d walk your boo to class and hug them before departing; hesitating on the first kiss, because both of you are nervous about the idea. You liked each other so much that you wanted to look your best for the other. The girl wearing beautiful earrings and is easily the most precious thing you’ve ever seen. The boy bearing a clean fade and a decked out wardrobe. There may have been a time you’d tickle your first love until it hurt, or the time when you stared at each other while blushing. Then of course you played the “what” game back and forth. The young love or the honeymoon phase may fade, but it’s how you handle your forthcoming future.

In order to share your deepest secrets with someone, you have to trust them. That trust is often earned over time. The small circle of friends that you have is a good outlet to release revelations that you hold dear. While drinking coffee in Tina’s apartment, Tina and Yvette are sitting at the coffee table.

“Yeah so that’s how it ended, but his sincerity was my weakness. Randy was too nice. I mean way too nice, and modest. People would take advantage of him. What’s strange is, he would say yes to everyone else but then no to me; as if I was trying to get him to do something that would hurt. Anyway, he could be cute, cuddly and funny too. Which is what kept me around so long.”

“That abomination? You’ve outdone yourself there,” Yvette said.

“Everything could’ve been so perfect if he fully opened up to me.” Yvette coughs up coffee and chuckles. “So you ended it, over no sex?”

“Girl you know you would’ve done the same in a heartbeat? A full month would not pass before you gave him an ultimatum; smash or pass, neeegro!”

“Hell to the no! We wouldn’t have gone to first base in the first place. However, if I was in your position with you having a weakness for the weak and pathetic…I would’ve kept him around for cathartic reasons and then used someone else for more sensual pursuits.”

“I feel sorry for the men you date,” Tina said.

“I feel sorry for you girl. What a troubled soul. Carl-”

“Randy-” Tina replied.

“Danny, fanny, smandy! Whatever his name is, he’s light-years below you!”

“You don’t even know him.”

“From what I’ve seen, I know enough.”

Tina lifts one hand as she measures. “Well you may want to aim high, but the rich fellas I’ve run across, have been cocky and overconfident! Nothing but trouble.”

“The bad boys can give you what you want. Well then again, maybe a part of what you want. Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when I come for you?” Yvette retorted.

“They’ll be running from your ass! Running over hurdles…hell the whole shebang, in full stride too! As if they stole on Usain Bolt,” Tina said.

“Oooh, he can chase me anytime,” Yvette replied.

“He wouldn’t be chasing you, he’d be running in the opposite direction.”

“Bad boys love a good challenge.”

“Yeah, but not from you,” Tina said.

“Says the woman that only dates the good-for-naught,” Yvette said.

“Whatever!”

“How did you keep him a secret for so long?”

“I wasn’t known then, so I didn’t have to worry about TMZ following my every move. Randy and I also had separate apartments, so it was easy.”

“He’s a schmuck for agreeing to be hidden, for that long.”

“I just miss the way he held me-”

“With no sex-”

“Stop, it was more than that. He was a good listener.”

Yvette comments with another sip of her coffee. “Except for one thing; listening to you when it mattered the most. That’s why you left.”

“I always thought that when you’re old and I mean OLD, you’re not going to be getting physical anymore. So before you get old, you at least want to experience the person you’re with physically. Thus, learning what it means to fully be with that person.

“Tina, are you blind? You’ve got guys lining up to be with you! EXXXXPERIENCE with them!”

“There lies the problem. I just don’t want anyone, I want someone special.”

“Like Danny-”

“Randy, dammit!”

“Look, you know what I mean,” Yvette said.

Tina places their mugs into the sink. “Well yeah, I guess. Someone like him.”

“Except with-” Yvette grunts like a rhinoceros.

“You, are sick!”

“Don’t be ashamed. You know that’s been lacking in your life.”

“Let’s change the subject please,” Tina stated.

“Okay, so what do you want to do first? And don’t even think about saying shopping because remember that pact I made you say,” Yvette commented.

Tina progresses toward the door and grabs her coat. “Yeah, I know. No shopping for thirty days.”

They exit the apartment.
