Sula: A Joy To Ride

I’ve got an electric bike and I don’t care

Photo of Sula taken by me.

I got a new bike last month.

Her name is Sula.

I ordered her online at the end of July and picked her up from the bike store on August. 3rd.

Sula is ice-green, electric, a little haughty but very, very cool.

Her name is Sula.

Before now, I’ve only ever had one other new bike in my life – a shiny red and silver Raleigh Chopper that I got for my 10th birthday and called – Choppy.

My younger brother took Choppy for a spin not long after and crashed it, so the handlebars were a little crooked after that, but I still loved Choppy.

After that, the only bikes I owned were second-hand; I never wanted to have a bike that would attract thieves.

But recently I experienced cycling an electric bike and was instantly enamoured. I had to have one!

I did my research and as soon as the cycle sales started, I snapped up a Raleigh Motus hybrid.

Sula rides like a dream. Hills, begone!

I was mulling over possible names when I heard of the passing of Toni Morrison, one of my favourite authors and a Great Soul (as defined by @SweetHoneyintheRock).

Sula rides like a dream. Hills, begone!

Toni then? Not quite right… Morrison? Too much like the supermarket.

How about Sula? asked my friend Kathy.

Sula! It fits her perfectly. She’s strong and upright and fiercely independent…

Photo of Sula & I taken by me.

If you see happen Sula and me streaming through London traffic, be sure to wave.
