Sufferings in the Pursuit of Power
“To be or not to be, that is the question,”
— William Shakespeare
To live or not to breathe. To thrive or not to thrive. To be strong or weak. To be a giver or a taker. To love or not to embrace. To care or not to worry. To hope or not to trust. To believe or not to think.
Those are the questions.
People often urge you to be strong, to pursue what you want, to be content, to follow your heart, but those same people might be the ones that make you feel weak — that make you feel incapable of fighting back.
People want to be there for you when you are strong; they want to witness it. But often, they turn around in moments of weakness, with accusations and judgments.
They tell you they can help, have the solutions, and tell you they have your back. But think about it, would they tell you something you didn’t know already?
No. You know it all. You hold all keys and answers, yet sometimes you’re too intimidated to unlock the closed doors because the doors are always there. The tickets are always with you. It’s just a step that you need to take, a barrier you need to overcome within you, and a bridge you need to build.
Weaknesses make you who you are, but exposing them will tear you down. Your strength only comes from within, no one else. Inspiration comes from other people in your life, that’s true, but the power is something only you can muster up the courage to unleash.
Do people think you’re weak? Prove them otherwise. Do people think you’re too strong? Don’t show them your weakness. Instead, help them find a key to their strength.
Weaknesses make you who you are, strength is studying others, and authentic power comes from mastering yourself.
