Four Key Ideas to Apply Now !?!

I just want to keep it simple. Since this article should focus on simplicity, here are four ideas you can apply now to succeed. I do not know when it will happen; I don’t have a crystal ball. However, I think these ideas are key.

Let´s dive in.

Less Is More:

Keep it simple. I caught myself today in front of 5 books. Every day I´m grabbing one different, since I want to learn about a topic as much as possible. I eagerly buy too many resources. What happens? I get lost, jump from one book to the other. Guess what. I do not learn anything by doing that.

Simple solution: Just read one source, one task at a time. Nothing else. Simple as that. Finish it. Then grab the second source or eat ice cream.

Consistency:

One day of reading or writing won´t make you Shakespeare. One day at the gym and you won´t be Mr/Mrs. Olympia. It takes time. Daily. The investment over weeks, months, and years will pay off. Ten minutes every day for one week will make you more successful than 70 minutes in one day. Because you approach it in short steps, thereby you are more likely to stick to it. No information overload, no severe muscle soreness. You can adapt and will keep the fun. Again, it is simple.

Simple Solution: Every day, short chunks of whatever you want to do instead of hours.

Focus on the daily tasks:

We set ourselves too many goals, too many tasks. This and that. Information overload, which we cannot master. What happens? We become frustrated. One day of frustration leads to the next; we start to doubt ourselves. Because we can never tick off a day completely with all its tasks. Mistake: we try too much. We fail. End of the story.

Simple Solution: Write down three or four daily tasks you truly want to achieve. Take the shortest possible time for it initially. Maybe ten minutes for each. You will get short kicks of dopamine and gratification by achieving your 10-minute goals. Congratulations. Then just increase.

Think long term:

Probably the most important, but most underrated. And also, for our modern human brain, problematic. Since our instant gratification neuronal network can´t think long term. But it is key to think in years, even better in decades. Rome was not built in a day. Thereby you don´t stress yourself too much. You have time to achieve your goal. Just start with tiny steps over ten years. Success will happen. But stick to it.

Simple Solution: Take 10 years instead of weeks or months.
