An Un-Pretty Poem

on Tuesdays the woodpeckers drill holes in my skull

I am at the mercy of the rat tat rat of drums

then the lawn mowers come the spring leaf blowers drone

I have a Zoom call at four my career is now on mute

I set up my ring light laptop on Harry Potter books

pinstriped shirt in place pants are so “yesterday”

I put my my headphones on and I suck the Advil down

I am a victim of the suburbs Gummies and Malbec at five

in my sun-less basement
