Substack Vs. ConvertKit? Which One Is Better?

A Growing Creator’s Experiment with Both Platforms

When I started on Medium last year on the first of October 2023, I had no idea where my journey would take me. After gaining more than 1,700 followers — THANK YOU!!!! — I have decided to take the next step, but I don’t know which platform to choose.

Substack and ConvertKit both sound like a lot of fun.

Substack was my initial preference for creating a weekly newsletter and maybe later launching a podcast. So, I created a profile and have already dispatched two free newsletters.

Escape The Matrix With Alina — on Substack.com

This weekly newsletter is free for any subscriber, but the upcoming podcast and possibly pictures and videos will only be accessible with a monthly or yearly subscription.

A big shout-out to my first Yearly Subscription & Founding Member:

Annie Lure, @ obsequy on Substack.com

Annie is my first and, until now, biggest supporter with $150 on Substack. Annie Lure Thank you so much. I couldn’t believe this happened to me after only one day of opening a Substack account!

After a lot of brainstorming about what steps will come next (podcasts, newsletters, online products, affiliate links, etc.) I also decided to delve deeper into ConvertKit. I must say, it has a better marketing platform than I expected; it is quite impressive.

I already created a new landing page with it and I will add some affiliate links to products that I like to use on a daily or weekly basis. I will also send out a weekly newsletter with the best content that I published every week.

As I see it, Substack is great for paid content and building or growing a community, but ConvertKit is probably better when it comes to marketing and landing pages.

So you might understand my conundrum now. I guess for now I will use both — Substack and ConvertKit and see how I feel in a couple of months, but it might make sense for me to keep both long-term, side by side.

Stay alert. :)
