Submit To What We’re Reading Wednesdays!
Write for us about the books you’re reading right now

Call for Submissions (Updated 8/11/2021)
I’ll admit I’ve held a tight grip on Your Book Friend since its launch, intending it as a personal book blog where I can control the voice of the writing as well as the books we cover.
But, the best part of our weekly feature, What We’re Reading Wednesdays, has been getting to hear about other people’s reads in the comments.
So, I’d like to start accepting writers to YBF specifically for the purpose of guest posts for What We’re Reading Wednesdays.
If you think you’d be interested in writing a short article with updates on your recent, current, and upcoming reads for a future What We’re Reading Wednesday, please respond here, and I will add you as a writer!
We’ll figure out which Wednesday is open based on the schedule, and I will ask that your draft be submitted no later than the Monday before it’s due to run. That gives me time to proof, add our YBF image and touches, and get it scheduled!
Bear in mind, I will be working with any writers for editorial purposes and proofreading, so be prepared for feedback.
Please also read previous WWRW posts to ensure you get the gist of the tone. You can find them up at the top of the page.
Editorial Notes/Style Guide
Tone/Audience: Light, friendly, personable book talk. Like you’re at the coffee shop chatting about your current reads.
Do not include harmful or discriminatory language, and be inclusive when using pronouns (they/them/theirs to refer to collective or to individuals whose pronouns you cannot positively confirm).
Content: Is it a thing you’ve read recently or are currently working on? Then it’s welcome! We’re not picky about genre or self published vs. traditionally published work here. Loving a fanfic or an article online? Great — mention it!
Please note, I reserve the right to remove content that is harmful or discriminatory per the above.
Grammar/Proofreading: We’re human. There may be a typo here or there. But in general, please carefully proof your copy so that it requires minimal editing from yours truly.
I will fix your typos and grammatical errors before publishing — if they’re minor, I won’t reach out.
If I have bigger suggestions, though, I’ll use the Private Notes feature, so be on the lookout for those!
Tags: Feel free to choose the relevant tags for your piece, but please include the WWRW tag, as this filters the posts into the proper page in Your Book Friend
That’s all for now! Depending on volume/interest, not all pieces submitted may be accepted, but we’ll see how we go!
