Submission Guidelines | Letters from Anon
The new publication for guessing games and pen-pals

Ever wanted to be a bit more… unidentifiable?
Letters from Anon (Anon) is here for anyone who wants to:
- Get something off their chest
- Play around with an anonymous form of writing
- Make an anonymous pen-pal
- Sign up here (make sure you completely read the submission guidelines though!)
The vision and purpose of Anon
- Having fun
- Collaborating with other writers
- Providing an opportunity for openness for people who otherwise wouldn’t feel comfortable speaking out
How does the ‘Anon’ part work though?
Well. That’s where I come in. Hi! I’m Nikki. I’m very trustworthy.
I’m also the owner and sole editor of Anon. And anyone who knows me on this platform knows:
- I don’t stand for bullies
- I’m nice as fucking pie
- I have shit tonnes of integrity
There are 4 steps to publishing anonymously
- You trust me enough to submit your piece to the publication
- You provide a pseudonym for your piece
- I republish a story under my, or a special Anon writer’s account, using your pseudonym as the Kicker.
- I won't divulge to anyone the contents of the article you sent me unless I’m required to by law (e.g. I receive a subpoena, warrant or other lawful action requesting that information).
So yeah, don’t use me to divulge where the hidden bodies are. I’m not your cellmate.
Want to respond … non-anonymously to something?
- Submit your article the usual way, and make it clear you are happy to be identified.
How to become a writer

- We are a small publication — it’s just me!
- It will generally take me 24–48hrs to review and either publish or choose not to publish a story.
- I will notify you if your story is rejected so if you haven’t heard back after this time, feel free to get in contact.
- Edits and resubmits of the same article are welcome IF I say as much in the notes to you.
- We accept unpublished drafts only.

Rules
- Posts not fitting within the letter format will not be accepted
- Affiliate links must be clearly indicated (e.g. at end of story)
- No racist, bigoted, non-inclusive, hate speech or other anti-social rhetoric in articles or behaviour in the publication (comments etc.) will be tolerated. Letters that incite any of these things, imply it or are extremely conservative in a hateful way will not be tolerated.
- As a growing publication, rules may be added over time, and we reserve the right to act on any new/modified rules as we see fit.
- Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
Formatting
- Limit formatting as if you were reading a novel. Let the reader decide where the emphasis is based on sentence structure. Some bold/italics is ok, and quotes are okay for speech/written text in-story/where they seem appropriate.
- Ensure you have both a Heading and subheading.
- Include an attributed image in all articles. It should be horizontal and immediately after the subtitle, to avoid a long scroll for readers opening up the article. Ideally no more than one. I am picky and may change this image with consulting you so that it fits with the publication feel.
- You can include a short bio with links and CTA (aim for <100 words for anything personal) at the bottom of the article. Obviously these will make you not anonymous. Consider wisely.
