Submission Guidelines for ‘Dancing My Way Through Life’ Publication
Dance stories that are fun, humorous, and sometimes embarrassing
Submission guidelines for Dancing Our Way Through Life
You found us! Welcome!
What we are about
We are a unique group — we love to dance — and we have stories to tell. Whether you’re still actively dancing or gave it up or are thinking getting back into it, I know you have a story and I want to read them all.
Our stories should be shared with each other and hopefully entice more people to get up and dance. We know the value of dancing and we want to reach out to everyone with the health benefits, fun, and exercise we know dancing to be.
I’m starting with dancing stories and see where it leads me. There may be room for more categories that fall along these lines that could be separated out, we’ll see.
MY HOPE:
TO GET MORE PEOPLE INTERESTED IN DANCING.
STUFF:
Please follow our publication and newsletter.
NEW STORIES:
Unpublished — ask to be a writer in the comments below.
Each piece should be a complete story
No less than 3 minutes long and no more than 7, please.
Of course, follow all of Medium’s guidelines with everything from Titles, to pictures, plagiarism, and more, all that info is out there on the internet. Please read it.
OLD STORIES:
Now accepting stories already-written on Medium to be highlighted. No need to do more than open the story, check to see if it needs a light edit and follows our guidelines, then send the URL.
Editing
Grammar — I tutored English in college and poor grammar is a pet peeve of mine. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes, but I do run my stories through Grammarly and Quilbot, and then I listen to them to catch errors my eyes don’t.
As of right now, I’m the only one editing, so please be patient with me, I may not get back to you right away, especially during the summer months when I take off for the shore!
I WANT TO READ:
1. It happened to you or another student or teacher, at a studio, or class, wedding, etc.
2. Humor is my favorite, but it could be an embarrassing moment, injury, unhappy event, costume mishaps, whatever relates to dancing.
3. How dancing has helped you mentally, physically, emotionally.
4. Short stories, essays, memoirs
AND PLEASE:
NO Fiction — third person — AI generated — they must sound like true stories
No lists or listicles
NO rants or raves or bashing someone, even if it’s a story about an unfortunate event, tell it without blame for the value or lesson it may hold.
NO opinions about what others should do or have done, just real stories that happened!
NO promotion yourself or upcoming events or links to your stuff.
NO stories about a night out dancing, we all do that, I want stuff that’s interesting.
NO cursing!!!!!!!!!
WRITE FOR US
It’s a lot to ask, we’re all busy, but you know you have a story to tell, or two or three.
If you want to give it a shot, leave a comment for me below, simple, just say, “I want to write for you,” and leave your Medium name.
ANY SUGGESTIONS are welcome, be nice, though, I’m a dancer, not a journalist. Use the comments section if you have any thoughts to get this publication rolling.
Thanks so much for reading. To be added to my mailing list, click here. Feel free to reply to any of my stories. Happy reading!
