Submission Guidelines
Welcome to all the Medium newcomers. Let’s hear your story!
Guys, please read the Guidelines before submitting a random article!
In case you’re not a Medium Member yet, here’s a link for you to read the whole story: https://readmedium.com/agata-szymula-da353ccd8bbf
Hi everybody, my name is Agata. I created this publication because I want to meet all the new Medium writers and hear their stories. I think we all might feel a little intimidated when we start our freelance writing journey (I know I am!). That’s why I would love to create a community within the community where we could support each other and make new connections.
It feels like we are ‘late.’ Medium and so many other writing platforms have been around for years, and it seems so difficult to grow when you are just starting out right NOW. There are so many options to choose from, so many guides to read, and things to learn that it’s overwhelming. Not to mention the rising AI threat and the hardships of getting the first clients. But I believe there’s a place on the Internet for all of us and all our unique perspectives.
Are you a 9–5er who dreams of quitting your job and writing full-time? Perhaps you’re a traveler with a passion for words who just wants to express yourself and share your experience? Or maybe you’re already an established writer with some projects under your belt, but you need a space to expand and share some more personal thoughts?
Whatever your story is, Medium seems like a great place to start our writing journey. In your article, please tell us about:
- your personal relationship with writing
- your writing experience up until now
- what do you love to write about
- what brought you here to Medium
- anything else that you want to share or you think might inspire others to pick up their pen!
Submission Rules:
- Please follow this publication and comment with your Medium handle under this article in order to be added as a writer. I repeat, please, leave your Medium handle.
- You have to be a relatively new Medium member or a returning member
- Please keep it under 5 minutes. That will give us a chance to read all our stories with the attention they deserve and practice that concise writing!
- As a title, please put your name and last name or your pseudonym
- After the title and the subtitle, please include a photo, preferably one that shows you, and in good quality. It looks best if it’s horizontal. It helps clickability and gives you a chance to be featured in the publication header.
- When writing, please use Grammarly or any other grammar-checking tool and follow Medium’s guide to formatting articles
- No hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. Let’s play nice.
- I will add two stories daily, so don’t worry if it takes a few days for your story to appear in the pub.
- I’m asking every member to please take 3 minutes daily to read new stories published by your fellow writers. Highlight the things you like, and leave a comment with your thoughts or suggestions — we are all here to grow as writers!
- Remember to leave as many claps as you can. I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but the number of highlights, comments, and claps actually determines how much we earn from an article, so let’s clap and earn together!
- It’s better if you can submit an unpublished draft. That is because the articles are shown on the main page in the order of their publication. This means that if you submit an article you self-published 5 days earlier, it won’t appear at the top of the page, and it will affect its readability.
If you keep submitting random articles to the publication and I can see that you didn’t read the Guidelines even though I asked for it repeatedly, I will have to delete you from the writing team. :(
If you need an example, here is my personal story:
Can’t wait to hear yours! :)
Also, I highly recommend promoting your story after it’s been published. I write all about amazing Medium Facebook groups that help you do that (I marked my favorite three) here:
Agata Szymula is a travel addict with an impressive 11$ monthly writing income. She spends it all on coffee, even though she’s been trying to quit for five years now. Agata’s biggest dream is to become a better writer and one day be able to buy food as well. She hates writing about herself in 3rd person, but she made an exception this time cause she saw cool people on Medium do it. If you want to support her addiction, you can buy her the next coffee ❤ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/agataszymula
