Stumble Alone
I cope with humiliation by being a fool.
I wait here alone. Candles lighting our table. Your absence remains.
I order a drink. An old fashioned romantic. Soul warming spirits.
My food has grown cold. Lovers stare with heartache prayers. I reach for my phone.
Your text not to meet. I curse your vacant setting. Another stiff drink!
Why can’t we just meet? You’re an unsightly antique. Alone, I will drink!
Take their plate away. I am free as of today. I’m ready to play!
Our guests feel disturbed. You slur uncouth tawdry words. Lone gentleman, leave.
I cry in the dark. She has broken my pure heart. I stumble alone.
