Student Debt Cancellation
A historic decision that benefits millions.

By Richard Smith ILLUMINATION Staff Writer
This week, President Biden indicated that he is open to canceling some amount of federal student loan debt. We have several children in our family (e.g., one daughter, two sons, four nieces, and several grandchildren). I am sure that many of you can understand why this is an issue near and dear to both me and my wife. If Biden follows through, this could be a historic decision that benefits the lives of millions of borrowers. In other words, our families, close friends, and co-workers.
Over sixty Congressional House representatives have signed on to what is known as House Resolution 100 (H.Res.100), sponsored by Representative Ayanna Pressley, which calls for President Biden to take executive action to broadly cancel federal student loan debt.
Student borrowers are in desperate need of relief, especially as the inflation crisis continues to worsen by the day. While on the 2020 campaign trail, President Biden assured voters that he would cancel at least $10,000 of student loan debt. It is now time for him to make good on this promise. Remember, the president has the authority to take executive action on this key economic issue. He is more likely to act boldly on canceling student debt if he knows Congress and the country have his back.
Do your loved ones a favor and contact your House Representative today. Tell your representative that you support President Biden canceling student debt and ask your member of Congress to co-sponsor House Resolution 100 (H.Res.100).
